The studio is really making progress! I took a week off early in May and accomplished several big projects. My goal was to achieve a decent level of climate-control before the summer weather hits in full force; my precious instruments are not built to withstand the south Georgia celsius! So what all have I accomplished thus far?
- installed a “new” tin roof to eliminate leaks
- put down an OSB top floor (the sub floor is old 2″ boards)
- hung insulation in the ceiling and walls
- covered the ceiling insulation with black material for aesthetic purposes
- ran new electrical wiring, installing several new outlets and light switches in the wall
- hung drywall
Now my studio is sealed up and the temperature is already under much better control! My little window-unit AC is actually cooling the whole building now! Next step: mudding & sanding drywall joints & laying a brick hearth for my wood-burning stove. SOOOOO much fun! (I hope to post some pictures soon. I didn’t start snapping photos at the very beginning of the project, but I will from here on.)
