  4. Hey i learned a new riff, it was probably the hardest one i have done yet. It requires that i drop the E to a D though. I think i learned pretty well for playing it in one day. ha ha ha

    WHAT WE DID THIS LESSON:
    - Jammed on the drop-D bass line from Flyleaf
    - Introduced intervals – m2, M2, m3, M3, P4, A4/D5

    THIS WEEK:
    1) Practice through the first set of intervals we learned (listed above)
    - Quiz yourself on the intervals. Write them down on pieces of paper and put them in a hat. Draw one out at a time and try to find the interval as fast as you can.
    - Try finding the interval in different keys.
    - Check the studybass link below to go through the second part of the intervals lesson

    WHAT WE DID THIS LESSON:
    - This is our first drum lesson!
    - Introduced the names of all the drums
    - Introduced the basic role of the kick & snare in a 4-4 time signature
    - Introduced the use of the hi-hat and ride in a basic 4-4 beat
    - Practiced playing a basic 4-4 beat, switching from hi-hat to ride very 2 measures
    - Introduced how to count measures

    THIS WEEK:
    1) Work on the basic 4-4 beat from lesson.
    - Play 2 measures on the hi-hat them move to ride

    OTHER:
    - You’re welcome to come to the studio to practice on Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday afternoons. Call me before you come to see if I’m there. If you know you’re coming a day ahead of time, let me know and I’ll make sure I’m at home or that the door to the studio is unlocked.

  7. Hey Eric, i know we are working on drums. But i have this one song its by rhcps its called cant stop. Its one of the hardest songs im trying to learn. Would you help me with it, I have a link of the tabs. Im sorta able to do it but i really don’t have the feeling.

  8. Hey i want to learn this song by the red hot chili peppers. its called cant stop and i have a link for the tabs. i can sorta play it but i dont have the feel for it. Also I know we are playing drum but i really want to learn this song. Hey I like the options for the summer stuff, even though i might help out at cool springs me and you should like see about getting a band started. I would be to every practice lol!     WHAT WE DID THIS LESSON:
    - Reviewed the 4-4 beat with quarter notes
    - Worked on a 4-4 beat with eighth notes
    - Introduced a basic roll to the ride on 3-and-4-and

    THIS WEEK:
    1) Work on the standard eighth note beat. Get it down solid.
    2) Work on the roll on 3-and-4-and.

    OTHER:
    - Paid $50 for May lessons.
    - We will work on the RHCP song next week on the bass.
    - If you ever need to practice the drums, just call and you can come over to the studio and practice.

    - Worked on verse of “Can’t Stop”

    THIS WEEK:
    1) Keep working on the verse of “Can’t Stop”
    - If you feel froggy, you can work on the chorus, too

    OTHER:
    - Next week we will work on the chorus and bridge

    WHAT WE DID THIS LESSON:
    - Repaired guitar cable
    - Worked on “How Great Thou Art” and “My God”

    THIS WEEK:
    1) You’ll obviously practice both of these songs because we’re playing this weekend!

    OTHER:
    - I’ll see what I can do to get a new nut and strings for your Silvertone bass. However, there will be a charge for the parts and possibly a little for the time.

    - Worked on minor pentatonic scale from Study Bass and an exercise with it
    - Worked on the minor blues scale from Study Bass and an exercise with it

  15. Missed June 26 lesson with late notice… you were too busy sittin’ next to the pool! :) We will not have lessons the week of July 4th and I’ll be out of town on July 10th, so I want to do a make-up lesson on Saturday, July 12th if it works for you.

  16. No lesson next week (June 30th). I will be out of town the following week (July 7th). I would like to do make-up lessons for that week on Saturday, July 12th. Will that work for you?
